Advisor Personnel Security

About the Role Join MBIE's Protective Security function as an Advisor – Personnel Security. The role focuses on strengthening MBIE's personnel security capability, supporting a resilient workforce and ensuring that personnel security practices comply with Government Protective Security Requirements (PSR). You will provide practical advice to managers and staff on security requirements, risk mitigation and incident management, coordinate security processes, manage stakeholder communications, and contribute to reporting and trend analysis to support decision‑making. Key Responsibilities Contribute to maturing MBIE's personnel security practices in line with PSR, supporting a risk‑based approach to assess, manage and monitor personnel security risks across the personnel security lifecycle. Provide practical advice to managers and staff on security requirements and risk‑mitigation strategies. Coordinate personnel security processes and manage stakeholder communications. Assist with risk and incident management, and contribute to reporting and trend analysis to support decision‑making. Qualifications & Requirements Awareness of personnel security in an organisational or people‑risk context. A mature, discreet and professional approach, with the ability to handle sensitive information calmly and consideredly. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of audiences. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and propose practical solutions. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities. A collaborative, respectful approach and the ability to build effective working relationships. A proactive mindset, curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow. The legal right to live and work in New Zealand. The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret national security clearance. Employment requires the candidate to be a New Zealand citizen or resident who has resided continuously in this country for 10 years, or a citizen of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom or the United States of America who has resided continuously in one or more of these countries for the last 10 years. #J-18808-Ljbffr
