About the Role As the Receptionist for our Outpatient Department, you will be the first point of contact for patients, whānau, visitors and healthcare professionals attending Kaitaia Hospital. You will provide a friendly and professional reception service while supporting the administrative and clerical functions that help keep outpatient clinics and hospital services running smoothly. No two days will be the same. You will greet and assist patients, manage enquiries, maintain patient records, support clinic administration, coordinate documentation, and work closely with clinical and administrative teams across the hospital. This role requires someone who can balance excellent customer service with strong organisational skills and accurate data entry while remaining calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment. Kaitaia Hospital is Northland DHBs northernmost hospital. It is a general hospital serving a widely scattered population of approximately 21,000. The 20-bed hospital has a general ward, maternity and paediatric ward with all the supporting services and provides a substantial community health service. The Outpatient Department provides a wide range of specialist services to the communities of the Far North. As part of a dedicated administration team, you will work alongside experienced clinical and non-clinical staff who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and creating a welcoming experience for all who visit our hospital. About you You will bring a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to providing outstanding customer service. You will also have: Previous experience in a reception, administration or customer service role Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and accurate data entry capabilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, whānau and staff Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment A commitment to confidentiality, teamwork, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and delivering exceptional service. Experience in a healthcare environment and knowledge of medical terminology or patient management systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
