Kairuruku | Research Assistant in Artificial Intelligence Job Description Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Research Assistant in Artificial Intelligence to join Te Kura Mātai Pūkaha, Pūrorohiko – School of Engineering and Computer Science on a fixed‑term, part‑time contract for five months. As a curious researcher, you will work with machine learning concepts and implementation, coding projects, and mapping the results to environmental modelling. You will maintain accurate records of experiments and communicate findings clearly to the project team. Key Responsibilities Integrate spectral transformations into an existing PyTorch codebase. Train, debug, and tune models on high‑performance computing infrastructure. Conduct systematic evaluations. Contribute to scientific publications. Key Requirements Strong coding skills demonstrated through previous machine‑learning projects or assignments (GitHub evidence preferred). Foundational understanding of various ML architectures, including attention mechanisms. Reasonable mathematical competency, evidenced through mathematics courses or other experience.
