University of Waikato International Excellence Scholarships 2026 The University of Waikato in New Zealand is accepting applications from international students and offering scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These scholarships are based on excellent academic achievement and leadership potential, not direct financial support. Applicants may receive a 20% discount for online study and the scholarship is applied towards tuition fees only. Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits One‑year tenure (first year only): up to $10,000 Two‑year tenure (two years only): $10,000 in the first year and $5,000 in the second year (total $15,000) Three‑year tenure (three years only): $10,000 in the first year, $5,000 in the second year, and $5,000 in the third year (total $20,000) Postgraduate Scholarship Benefits Masters and PhD applicants: up to NZD 15,000 applied towards tuition fee for the first year only. NOTE: Applicants applying for a full‑time undergraduate or postgraduate degree are eligible for this scholarship only; online, distance, or part‑time programmes are not eligible. Eligibility Requirements International students for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can apply only as new students. New Zealand citizens or legal residents are not eligible. Applicants must have a minimum GPA equivalency of B+ (Second class Upper) in their most recent qualification. Applicants must not be currently enrolled at the university at the time of application. Applicants must not have paid fees at the time of application. Applicants must not be undertaking a sponsorship programme, government scholarship, or study grant. Applicants must have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato.
