Mechanic

We are looking for a qualified Mechanic to join our team working full-time (40-hours per week) based at Christchurch Airport . Our fleet of vehicles is a mechanic’s dream job with a vast range needing your skills, experience, and expertise. As a Mechanic at Avis Budget Group, you will handle repairs and maintenance on our vehicles in a timely, efficient, and cost‑effective manner. Full‑time, permanent role – 40 hours per week 4×10 hour shifts: Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Christchurch Airport based with free staff parking What You’ll Do Service vehicles in line with manufacturer specifications and company standards, including minor repairs and preventive maintenance checks on fleet vehicles (e.g., replacing fluids, changing oil/air filter, tyres, brakes, fitting ski racks). This includes cars, trucks and company fleet. Monitor inventory and request new parts from Service Administrator. Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. Perform diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems. Provide assistance to colleagues when required. Complete Repair Orders and provide breakdown assistance when necessary. Prepare vehicles for handback and sales. Test and service workshop equipment for safety. Keep accurate, on‑time job records and record servicing history in applicable systems. Conduct work in a safe manner, complying with Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental policies and being familiar with emergency evacuation procedures to minimize workplace risks. Report all accidents, near‑accidents and hazards. What We’re Looking For Full driver’s licence, including manual vehicles. Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics (Level 4 minimum) with prior experience as a motor mechanic; experience in the car‑rental industry is an advantage. Experience with both petrol and diesel motors. Availability to work 40 hours per week. This full‑time position does not accept Student Visa or WHV holders and sponsorship is not offered. Customer‑focused, collaborative, and adaptable approach to work each day. Ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple sites with a high level of attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation relevant to the role.
