Based in Whangārei, this position is within the Mental Health and Addictions Service at the Tumanako Inpatient & He Manu Pae Sub‑Acute units. It offers permanent full‑time and part‑time opportunities with rostered shifts. Overview This role requires highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Mental Health Auxiliary Workers, supporting patients’ recovery by fostering skill development for independent living and maintaining a supportive ward environment. Responsibilities Support patients in their recovery and promote the development of skills for independent function at discharge. Provide a supportive ward environment for patients. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to create a recovery‑focused, culturally safe environment. Follow training and support protocols to manage patients with acute mental health needs. Qualifications Compassionate, positive outlook, and ability to work in a culturally safe manner. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Genuine interest in caring for people with acute mental health needs. Prior experience preferred but not essential; full training will be provided. Working Conditions Full‑time or part‑time positions available. Rostered shifts.
