Paver Plant Operator

Key Responsibilities Operate asphalt pavers safely and efficiently on a variety of surfacing projects. Set up and adjust the paver to achieve specified widths, depths, and paving levels. Monitor material flow and mat quality to ensure compliance with project specifications. Perform daily pre-start inspections, routine servicing, and basic maintenance of plant. Identify and report mechanical faults or maintenance requirements promptly. Work collaboratively with the paving crew, roller operators, truck drivers, and supervisors to maintain production targets. Maintain accurate records as required, including pre-start checks and maintenance documentation. Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures. Contribute to a positive team culture and support continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Requirements: Qualifications & Licences Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence WTR endorsements. At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Civil road construction industry. OR A level 4 industry qualification (Work experience can replace a formal qualification). Strong understanding of paving operations, asphalt materials, and quality requirements. Commitment to safe work practices and environmental compliance. Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts and occasional weekends when required. Class 2 licence and WTR endorsements preferred but not required.
