Te’tūranga - The role As the Senior Advisor, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership and expert analysis, delivering high‑quality research that informs monetary policy and supports the Bank's strategic objectives. In this role you will manage a core part of the research programme, ensuring it is impactful, well‑integrated with policy work, collaborative, and visible across the Bank and to external stakeholders. Responsibilities Lead research projects that inform monetary policy. Mentor staff, providing technical guidance and support. Strengthen academic and central bank partnerships. Provide thought leadership by identifying fruitful topics for policy‑relevant research. Ō'pūkenga - About you To succeed in this role you will be an experienced Advisor or Senior Advisor with a postgraduate degree in economics, finance, or a related analytical field, and at least seven years of experience, ideally within a central bank or similar institution. You will have a thorough understanding of macroeconomic theory and monetary economics, be familiar with global and domestic economic issues, and command advanced quantitative skills in DSGE modelling, time‑series econometrics, causal inference methods, large administrative datasets, or machine learning. You will have the capacity to lead and manage research projects effectively, and the willingness to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members.
