Job Description

RealNZ is looking for an experienced Marine Reliability Engineer to help keep our marine fleet safe, reliable, and performing at its best - supporting extraordinary experiences in some of Aotearoa’s most iconic places. This senior, technically focused role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, thinking long‑term about asset performance, and solving complex engineering challenges. You’ll provide trusted technical advice across vessel maintenance, asset lifecycle planning, and reliability, while helping to strengthen how we plan, deliver, and continuously improve our marine maintenance. Working closely with our Marine leaders, you’ll support complex repairs, planned maintenance, vessel audits, and the ongoing improvement of our CMMS (Maximo). You’ll also play a key role in asset optimisation and marine projects - ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. What you’ll bring Relevant trade‑based qualification and full NZ Driver’s Licence Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining commercial vessels Minimum 10 years’ experience working with heavy equipment Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Strong technical capability with high attention to detail Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with engineering consultants and contractors Bonus points if you have Experience working to marine classification society standards (e.g. ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register) Experience with CMMS optimisation (Maximo preferred) Knowledge of reliability‑centred maintenance practices Experience with reliability engineering techniques (FMECA, RCM, MTBF, failure investigations) Ability to interpret technical data and maintenance history to support decision‑making Experience facilitating root cause analysis or cross‑functional problem‑solving sessions What you’ll get from this A permanent, full‑time role with guaranteed hours working across some of Aotearoa’s most incredible marine environments Competetive staff benefits, including discounted RealNZ experiences - from Milford and Doubtful Sound cruises to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves and white‑water rafting!
