Role Summary When you join the Christchurch City Council, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the city and its communities. As a leading Geotechnical Engineer, you will work alongside great people, take ownership of complex projects and help deliver sustainable outcomes. Responsibilities Lead industry working groups and projects that influence the City’s future. Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders on matters related to MBIE Guidance, the NZ Building Code and the Building Act. Own and deliver high‑impact geotechnical engineering projects throughout the Canterbury region, both on large pivotal projects and smaller community initiatives. Collaborate across the Council and external partners to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice. Qualifications New Zealand Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or Geotechnical Engineer (or Engineering Geologist) with a minimum of 8 years experience in a similar role in a large complex organisation. Sound knowledge of New Zealand legislation, the NZ Building Code, the Building Act and other geotechnical aspects unique to Canterbury. Proven experience in structural design and advanced geotechnical practice. Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
