Western Heights High School Bay of Plenty Technology Teacher - Hard Materials/Workshop Full time, Permanent Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher Technology Western Heights High School is seeking a passionate, skilled, and student-centered technology teacher to join our dedicated technology department. This role involves teaching a mix of junior/intermediate classes and any of the senior subjects - NCEA materials technology, DVCO, engineering and building construction. Our new facility was constructed ten years ago and the workshop spaces are well designed and resourced. You will be working alongside a supportive, flexible and collaborative team focused on practical, hands‑on learning and student success in both pathways and academic. Key responsibilities Deliver engaging, practical lessons in hard materials/workshop technology across various year levels. Guide senior students through a range of internal assessments and project portfolios. Maintain a safe, organized, and positive workshop environment. Work collaboratively within the technology department to share resources and planning. About you We are looking for an educator who mirrors the values of our school community. The ideal candidate will possess: A strong background in technology, engineering, building, or related trade backgrounds. A student‑first approach, with a proven ability to build quiet respect, patience, and strong relationships with young people. High expectations for student achievement balanced with genuine care and kindness. Excellent classroom management skills, ensuring health and safety protocols are strictly maintained in the workshop.
