Job Description
Court Registry Officer, Family Court Registry – Christchurch District Court, Fixed term full time until 30 June 2027. The Court Registry Officer plays a vital role in the operation of the Christchurch District Court, supporting the judiciary, lawyers and the public. Your primary duties include court‑taking – opening court sessions, working with the judiciary in the courtroom and chambers, and handling general court administration. This role is also targeted to support the Ministry’s Te Au Reka digital casefile and workflow transformation project. Te Haeata/The Opportunity As part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to the running of the court and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. This fixed‑term position provides an opportunity to help shape the court’s transition to a digital and more efficient system. Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience We seek a professional who can deliver high‑accuracy service and works with diverse customers, including those speaking Te Reo Māori. The role is suitable for individuals from varied backgrounds who are interested in the justice system, including interns, parents returning to work or experience‑seeking professionals. To Be Successful, You Will Need To Be Resilient – handling sensitive cases and high volumes in a fast‑paced environment. Detail oriented and observant – ensuring accurate case information across multiple processes. Self‑aware – working confidently across a range of situations with maturity and positivity. Multi‑tasking – managing conflicting priorities and moving quickly between tasks. Willing to learn – adapting to changes in legislation and court processes. Excellent communication in English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation are required. Comfort with audiovisual equipment is desirable.
