Risk Advisor

Make an impact by helping NZ Post strengthen risk maturity across the business. Provide trusted advice and challenge on some of NZ Post's most important risks. Based in Auckland or Wellington with hybrid working available. Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role As a Risk Advisor, you'll be part of NZ Post's enterprise-wide second line risk function, providing risk advice, challenge and assurance across the organisation. You'll work across value streams, platforms and functions, supporting leaders to identify, understand and effectively manage risk while maintaining independence as a trusted second line partner. Reporting to the Head of Risk, you'll contribute to building enterprise-wide risk maturity and capability, helping ensure the consistent application of NZ Post's risk management framework and supporting informed decision‑making across the business. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of risks across NZ Post, giving you exposure to senior stakeholders, strategic initiatives and enterprise‑wide risk challenges. You'll be involved in: Providing independent risk advice, challenge and partnership to stakeholders across NZ Post. Supporting risk identification, assessment and risk‑based decision‑making. Driving consistent application of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework through education, workshops and capability uplift. Contributing to the enterprise assurance programme, including assessing control design and effectiveness. Identifying and communicating emerging, systemic and cross‑functional risk themes. Building strong relationships with stakeholders while maintaining independence as a second line function. Providing risk and assurance reporting, insights and recommendations to stakeholders. Mōu - About you You'll be a collaborative and pragmatic risk professional who enjoys working with stakeholders to improve risk management practices and support better business outcomes. You'll be confident providing advice and constructive challenge, and capable of building strong relationships across a complex organisation. You'll bring: 5+ years' experience in risk management, including experience working in a 2nd line risk environment. A strong understanding of risk concepts, trends and enterprise risk management principles. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build trusted stakeholder relationships. A reputation for building collaborative relationships and achieving results through partnership. The ability to work independently while contributing as part of a broader team. A relevant tertiary qualification, with professional risk qualifications viewed favourably.
