About the team |Mōtetīma The Transformers Squad sits within the Lend and Protect Tribe and plays a critical role in keeping ASB’s lending platforms reliable and available. The squad provides production support across lending applications and is often the first line of response when systems are unavailable or when documents are not delivered as expected. The team runs a support roster and carries out daily health checks across logs, dashboards, and system signals. With visibility across multiple lending platforms, the squad works closely with engineers, platforms, and other squads to diagnose issues, reduce repeat incidents, and improve system resilience. The focus is on keeping services stable today, while continuously improving how they are built and supported for the future. About the role |Mōtetūranga As a Software Specialist, you’ll be a hands‑on developer working in a live production environment. You will contribute to the squad’s core function of supporting, operating and improving lending applications. You will be expected to make targeted code changes to restore services and identify opportunities to improve service reliability. You’ll work closely with multiple engineering squads in collaborative initiatives, sharing insights from production issues and helping lift overall stability and quality. Alongside day‑to‑day support, you’ll take the lead on AI initiatives. Initially, within the squad to drive operational improvements, internal tooling, and better ways of working. Longer term, there will be many opportunities to grow your AI capabilities and to contribute across the Lend and Protect Tribe and the wider bank. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving real problems, working calmly through incidents, and improving how systems are supported and run over time. What you’ll be doing Supporting and operating lending technology services to meet availability and performance targets Taking part in the squad’s support roster and responding effectively to production incidents Diagnosing complex issues using logs, dashboards, and monitoring tools AI Agent development to support issue detection, triage and response Implementing fixes and improvements in code where appropriate Working with application owning squads to reduce recurring issues Contributing to clear documentation and well‑reasoned technical decisions Communicating clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders You’re a practical, hands‑on engineer who enjoys working close to real systems and real outcomes. You’re comfortable operating in complex production environments and can stay calm and methodical when things go wrong. You like collaborating with others, learning from incidents, and continuously improving how technology services are run. You take pride in building reliable software and supporting systems that customers depend on. You have a keen interest in Agentic AI development and prompt engineering. Skills and experience Experience supporting and operating production systems in complex environments Strong problem‑solving skills across applications, services, and platforms Strong Agentic AI or Advanced Prompt Engineering experience Solid experience with C# and Microsoft .NET, including legacy and modern implementations Good SQL Server capability for investigation and troubleshooting Experience diagnosing and resolving live production issues A strong testing mindset, including unit and regression testing Confidence communicating technical issues and impacts clearly Experience contributing to continuous improvement and more resilient systems Working for ASB At ASB, our values guide how we work with each other, our customers, and our communities.
