Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for the availability and reliability of all mechanical plant on site. This is a hands‑on role that combines planned maintenance, fabrication and welding, fault‑finding, and continuous improvement — with plenty of variety day to day. What You'll Be Doing Planning and executing scheduled and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment Fabrication and welding work (Arc, MIG, TIG) including assembly of high‑specification production equipment Using workshop equipment including lathe, mill and press Fault‑finding and root cause analysis to minimise breakdowns and extend plant life Managing mechanical spare parts inventory and equipment refurbishment Supporting plant shutdowns and machinery isolation Assisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and training of operations teams Maintaining housekeeping standards and 5S practices Contributing to health and safety, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives What You'll Bring Qualified Mechanical Technician — Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent Proven maintenance fitter experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Welding experience across MIG, TIG and Arc processes Strong fault‑finding and practical problem‑solving skills Familiarity with SOPs, 5S, and safe work practices Computer literacy and competent written and verbal English communication Full NZ Class 1 driver's licence Ability to work day and night shifts as required Physically capable of manual handling up to 20kg, working at heights and in confined spaces Who You Are You're a reliable, team‑focused tradesperson who gets stuck in and takes pride in quality work.
