At the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te Pā Whakamarumaru, we are dedicated to our mission of keeping Aotearoa New Zealand and our people safe and secure. We collect and analyse intelligence and security concerns to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism. Role Summary This is a people‑leadership role that drives the development, research and delivery of intelligence capabilities. You will define the standards required to deploy kit into the field, ensure production enters operations sustainably, and deliver prioritised projects that advance NZSIS operational capability. Responsibilities Lead, coach and manage a team of technical and engineering professionals. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to direct reports. Deliver prioritised development and engineering projects that advance operational capability, ensuring projects move through the project lifecycle from innovation to successful delivery into operations. Define the standards for deploying intelligence tools into the field and manage production and field implementation. Drive collaboration, innovation and an outcomes‑focused culture within the team. Build strong partnerships with agency staff, partner agencies, industry and international stakeholders. Champion the critical intelligence missions that NZSIS achieves. Qualifications & Experience New Zealand citizenship for at least 10 years, or NZ residency with 10 years citizenship in the UK, USA, Canada or Australia. Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Significant experience leading technical and engineering teams, with project management skills. Eligibility & Security Clearance Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or eligible holder of a NZ residency class visa and must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special security clearance.
