Job Description

Plant Operator | Telehandler | Benmore Dam Project Start Date: September 2026 Operate one of New Zealand's most advanced telehandlers on a nationally significant infrastructure project. Seipp Construction is looking for a skilled Specialist Plant Operator to operate our new Magni rotating telehandler on the Benmore Dam seismic strengthening project. This is a long‑term project expected to run for at least 2-3 years, offering the opportunity to work with modern equipment, an experienced project team and some of New Zealand's leading infrastructure specialists. If you're experienced in lifting operations and enjoy technically challenging work, we'd love to hear from you. About the role This is much more than operating a telehandler. You’ll play a key role supporting complex mechanical, structural and civil construction activities, safely carrying out lifting operations across the project. Working closely with Project Engineers, Foremen and site crews, you’ll be responsible for operating Seipp's new Magni rotating telehandler, assisting with lift planning, coordinating lifting activities and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. You’ll also help maintain our specialist plant to the highest standard while supporting the wider project team when lifting operations aren’t required. Who we're looking for We’re open to candidates from a range of construction and lifting backgrounds. You might currently be a: Magni or rotating telehandler operator Dogman or rigger Excavator operator with lifting experience Construction plant operator Civil construction operator Experience operating a Magni is an advantage, but it isn’t essential. If you understand lifting operations, load management and working safely around suspended loads, we’ll provide training on our equipment. You’ll bring Experience operating construction plant or lifting equipment A strong understanding of safe lifting practices The ability to read and work from lift plans and engineering drawings A practical, solutions-focused approach Pride in looking after machinery and equipment Strong communication and teamwork skills A commitment to safety and quality A WTR endorsement is essential, with Class 2 or Class 4 licences highly regarded.
