From responding to 111 calls to supporting people to stay healthy through health education, access and monitoring, we make a life‑changing difference every day. Job Description We are currently recruiting volunteers for the Mayfield Area. Volunteering with Ambulance & Events is a big commitment that provides huge rewards. By working at community events and on an ambulance your role is varied, but the focus is always on providing quality care to patients. Our Ambulance & Events Volunteers provide care and support to our patients through their journey which may start at a 111 call and end either being referred to another healthcare provider, treated on scene, or transported to a medical facility. As an Events Volunteer you could be covering anything from local and international sports events to school fairs or a concert. We offer NZQA recognised training and will give you all the support and education needed to make you safe and effective in the field. Once accepted, your online and classroom training and workbooks will take around 6‑9 months to complete. Qualifications A full and clean NZ driver's licence for at least 12 months or have completed an approved NZTA advanced driving course (if full licence held for less than 12 months) To be 18 years of age or over New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status A First Aid certificate level 2 is preferred, but if you don’t currently have one, we’ll provide the training A clean police record To be able to pass Hato Hone St John assessments – physical assessment, health questionnaire, literacy and numeracy assessments and an interview To be available for regular duty and training (approximately two 12‑hour shifts and one training session per month) Additional Information All appointments are subject to satisfactory completion of pre‑employment checks including, but not limited to, physical assessment, psychometric assessment, police vetting, health check, and reference checks. For clinical operations roles where you are required to drive, you will be required to meet Hato Hone St John Medical Standards for Driving.
