Job Description
Overview Fitter / Engineer Join a well-established New Zealand manufacturing business operating a modern production facility. We\'re looking for an experienced Fitter / Engineer to play a key role in keeping plant and production equipment operating safely and efficiently. If you\'re a proactive problem solver who enjoys preventative maintenance, breakdown response and working in a fast-paced industrial environment, this is an opportunity worth considering. Location: Hamilton Start date: Immediate start Pay rate: $35–$40 per hour depending on experience (weekly pay) About the Role Working 12-hour shifts , you\'ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of specialised production equipment. This is a hands-on role where no two shifts are the same—you\'ll carry out scheduled maintenance, respond to breakdowns and work closely with the production team to minimise downtime and keep operations running smoothly. Responsibilities Carry out preventative maintenance across plant and production equipment Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns efficiently Complete die changes and support production changeovers Fault find and implement practical engineering solutions Maintain augers, drag chain conveyors and bucket elevators Service specialised production equipment including die presses, conditioners and coolers Assist with maintenance of automated bagging, robotic and palletising systems Complete maintenance documentation and communicate effectively with the production team Follow all health and safety procedures while maintaining a high standard of workmanship Qualifications Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Turning or similar preferred Previous experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience working with conveyors, rotating equipment or automated machinery Ability to work independently across 12-hour shifts A proactive attitude with a strong commitment to health and safety Benefits Competitive pay of $35–$40 per hour depending on experience Immediate start available Weekly pay Work with modern production machinery and automated systems Potential for ongoing work Support from the Tradestaffteam Why work with Tradestaff?
