Clinical Service Lead - Counselling Location: Wellington or Manawatū Campus Lead clinical excellence. Supporting colleagues making a difference for students. We are seeking skilled and competent mental health professionals to join our Student Wellbeing & Safety team as Clinical Service Leads - Counselling. The two appointments are Permanent full time 37.5 hours/week Monday‑Friday, office hours, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. The salary range for this position is Grade 7 ($83,818 – $117,788) depending on experience and qualifications. About the role As a Clinical Service Lead, you will provide clinical leadership, professional guidance, and day‑to‑day support within a local counselling team while maintaining a clinical caseload. You will work alongside highly skilled colleagues across Student Wellbeing & Safety to support students experiencing distress, mental health challenges, crisis, and other barriers to success. The role includes Providing clinical guidance and consultation to counsellors within local team. Supporting safe, ethical, and evidence‑informed counselling practice. Providing clinical consultation and leadership for complex cases within local campus. Contributing to service quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Supporting coordinated responses with Student Care, Accommodation, academic staff, and other partners across the University. Helping create an inclusive and culturally safe service that supports diverse student communities. About you A relevant postgraduate qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or a related discipline. Current professional registration and practising certificate. Significant experience working with complex presentations, risk assessment, and therapeutic intervention. Strong clinical judgement and professional integrity. Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising, or supporting colleagues. Ability to build effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary service setting. Ability to build trusting relationships across diverse cultural and professional contexts.
