Waihi Operation Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground gold mine. A recent consent for the Waihi North Project, a new mine to be developed 6 km north of the existing operation, provides a long-term extension of mine life and assurance that we plan to be here for the long term. To provide direct supervision of all maintenance activities undertaken by the underground maintenance department (including contractors) and ancillary personnel. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Operational Oversee the underground maintenance team tasked with maximising availability of underground mobile plant and equipment. Provide technical guidance to personnel. Schedule work and supervision of personnel in maintenance activities. Maintenance activities are carried out safely and in a timely matter. Ensure maintenance coverage for breakdowns. Ensure adequate resources are available for scheduled maintenance. Develop a sense of continuous improvement. Ensure appropriate training and competency requirements of the maintenance department are met. Accurate recording of all maintenance activities. Production Ensure safe and healthy work practices are followed. Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures. People Management Motivate, lead and mentor the Maintenance team. Develop maintenance staff performance and ensure accepted team performance is achieved. Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to maintenance team. Negotiate conflicts in team for the best possible result. Identify skill gaps and recommend training for individuals to develop succession plans for crew members. Qualifications Relevant mechanical trade certificate. Ability to obtain the relevant Certificate of Competence. Full and Current Driver Licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred. Experience 5 years plus mining maintenance experience in medium to large underground operations. Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred. Mechanical knowledge to understand equipment capabilities, maintenance scheduling and preventative maintenance methods. Proven experience in pro-active maintenance in a high-pressure environment. Background and technical knowledge of underground mobile plant and ancillary equipment. Demonstrated experience complying with and driving a positive safety culture. Sound knowledge and experience using computer programs such as Pronto, Excel and Word.
