The role This is a Trainer / Advisor position focused on delivering engaging, practical Health & Safety training across a range of industries. You’ll be in front of groups regularly, combining classroom-based learning with hands-on, real-world application. It suits someone who enjoys being on their feet, interacting with people, and taking complex safety concepts and making them easy to understand and apply. Whether you come from a training background or straight out of industry, this role will suit someone who brings energy, credibility and a genuine commitment to helping others learn. Responsibilities Deliver engaging Health & Safety training across construction, industrial and extractives environments, both in-person and online Deliver a broad range of courses including EWP, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Gantry Crane, Fire, Isolation, Telehandlers, First Aid and general H&S training Own the full training lifecycle from setup and preparation through to delivery, assessment and follow-up Facilitate a mix of classroom-based and hands-on practical training, ensuring all training environments, materials and equipment are prepared to a high professional standard Deliver and advise on key safety topics including incident investigation, human factors and risk assessment Assess participant competency and complete evaluations within set timeframes Provide clear, practical guidance on H&S legislation and best practice across workplace risks and hazards Build strong, credible relationships with learners and clients through confident, engaging delivery Contribute to the ongoing improvement of training programmes, materials and H&S plans, staying current with industry and legislative changes Hours Standard days are typically 7:00am to 3:30pm, however this can vary depending on the course being delivered. Flexibility is important, including occasional Saturday work. What You’ll Bring Proven experience in construction, mining, industrial or H&S environments, or hands-on experience delivering training, toolbox talks or facilitating groups The confidence, energy and presence to step in front of a room and deliver training that lands Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with a wide range of people and adapt your style to suit different audiences A practical mindset, with the ability to break down complex safety concepts into clear, real-world application Strong digital capability, including Microsoft Teams and the Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) A genuine drive to learn, develop and build capability across a broad range of training programmes Solid organisation and time management, with the ability to juggle delivery, preparation and assessment deadlines A full New Zealand driver’s licence Relevant certifications such as Unit Standard 4098 and First Aid are preferred; however training can be provided Additional licenses or industry qualifications (e.g. Class 2, equipment operation or safety-related quals) will be highly regarded What’s in it for you?
