Job Description
Lead assurance. Drive environmental impact. Demand for climate, sustainability and decarbonisation services is accelerating. Toitū is well positioned to help organisations respond. At Toitū, we're helping organisations across Aotearoa and beyond meet that challenge and we're looking for an experienced Lead Auditor to lead and deliver our Toitū Enviromark® audit programme. This is more than a traditional auditing role. It offers exposure to a diverse and interesting client portfolio spanning financial services, manufacturing, agriculture, food and beverage, and many other industries. You will have plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, train and mentor others, and develop your expertise. You'll be supported by an experienced team and the wider Toitū whānau as you build strong relationships with clients and help drive positive environmental outcomes. We're seeking an individual with proven experience in ISO 14001 environmental management systems and ISO 14001 auditing. The ideal candidate will bring strong critical thinking and analytical skills, coupled with excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. This is an Auckland based role, that involves regular travel within the Auckland region, as well as occasional domestic travel across Aotearoa. No two days are the same. One week you could be auditing a manufacturing facility, the next supporting a financial services organisation or visiting an agricultural operation. What We're Looking For Minimum of two years' experience working with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. Proven experience conducting ISO 14001 audits, ideally across a range of industries. ISO 14001 qualifications are desirable. Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills, balanced with the ability to remain objective, apply professional judgement, critical thinking, and professional scepticism. Ability to prioritise competing demands and perform effectively under pressure. A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills who can also work independently when required. Commercially aware with a practical, solutions-focused approach. Able to demonstrate that you are a fit and proper person. Knowledge of sustainability challenges and opportunities across a variety of industries. A current, full New Zealand driver's licence. What Will Make You Stand Out Environmental management and auditing experience across multiple industries and sectors. A practical, solutions-focused approach to environmental management. Experience coaching or mentoring other auditors. A strong understanding of sustainability and environmental best practice. The ability to build credibility quickly and engage confidently with clients at all levels. A genuine passion for helping organisations improve their environmental performance. Why Join Toitū? At Toitū, you'll work with leading scientists, auditors and sustainability experts to help organisations tackle some of New Zealand's most important environmental challenges. Our certification, advisory and environmental programmes are trusted by businesses, government and industry. You'll have the opportunity to influence change while helping shape the next phase of Toitū's growth. You'll be joining a flexible, supportive and purpose-driven organisation where you'll have opportunities to grow your expertise, expand your industry knowledge and make a genuine difference.
