Overview Global Category Manager – Direct Procurement, Fisher & Paykel Appliances, Auckland City, NZ. Full-time, on-site role with opportunities for career growth. The Global Direct Procurement team manages approximately NZ$250M of direct material spend across a complex, globally distributed supply base and shapes cost, resilience, and long-term competitiveness of products. What You Will Own Category Strategy and Planning: Build and own 3–5 year category strategies grounded in market intelligence, total cost of ownership, and product roadmap alignment; translate insights into strategic direction and tangible sourcing outcomes. Commercial Leadership and Value Creation: Lead complex supplier negotiations, deliver cost out and cost avoidance at a strategic level, and drive synergy opportunities across the Haier Group; defend and recover the cost position across volatile commodity markets. Supplier and Stakeholder Leadership: Own the full commercial supplier relationship from qualification and contracting through to performance management and co-innovation with key partners globally.Act as the primary procurement interface for senior internal stakeholders — influencing decisions at the right level and time. Team Development: Coach and mentor emerging procurement talent while continuing your own growth. What You Will Bring A commercial leader first attitude—think like a business owner, act with urgency, and bring entrepreneurial instinct to every category and supplier relationship. Senior, credible experience—currently at a senior category manager or equivalent leadership level with comfort engaging demanding supplier counterparts and executive stakeholders. Structured and delivery-focused; capable of managing complex workloads, competing priorities, and delivering on commitments. Proven track record leading cross-functional, high-value work in a global manufacturing or direct materials environment. Strong business and commercial acumen—cost/value analysis, negotiation, contracts, and translating data into strategic direction. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, especially when presenting plans to senior leadership. Advantageous (not essential): experience with supplier relationships across Asia, including China and South East Asia, and Mandarin language capability. Experience in electronics, PCBA, or technology-linked direct material categories is a plus.
