Support victims through the parole process as a Victim Adviser with the New Zealand Parole Board.Permanent opportunity.Wellington based role, however nationwide applications welcome.Mo te tunga | About the roleWe have a permanent vacancy for a Victim Adviser at the New Zealand Parole Board. Victim Advisers are responsible for informing victims on the Victim Notification Register (VNR) about upcoming offender hearings and assisting them to make submissions and participate in the parole process. They also call victims after hearings to let them know the Board's decision.Day-to-day activities include:Contacting victims before an upcoming hearing to let them know what to expect and how to participate in the process.Informing victims about the outcome of a hearing promptly.Advising victims on local and national support services.Using the Parole Board Hearing System to manage all victim interactions and keep track of upcoming victim events.Maintaining networks with Department staff, government and non-government agencies, community groups, and Court Victim Advisers.Liaising with Managers, the NZPB Chairperson, and Panel Convenors to address issues and risks.Collaborating with the Department's Victim Information team for victim contact details.Working with Hearing Managers and the Communications Manager for effective case management and communication.Mou | About youWe're looking for someone with experience working with victims in the New Zealand justice sector. You'll be well organised and able to juggle a range of tasks at once. You can build strong, trusting relationships with a range of audiences and you are resilient and able to deal with emotional or difficult conversations. We also need you to be a great communicator, with solid judgment and good problem-solving skills, who works well both independently and as part of a team.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceKey skills and experience include, but are not limited to:Experience communicating with victims of crime to convey complex and challenging information.Personal and professional resilience with the ability to maintain composure in high pressure situations.Well-developed communication and listening skills and the confidence to engage with a variety of audiences.The ability to grow and maintain professional working relationships to support interagency collaboration.Excellent organisational and time management skills, skilled and committed to ensuring quality and accuracy, tact, discretion and integrity.A relevant tertiary qualification, experience supporting victims of crime, and/or knowledge of trauma-informed practice would also be advantageous.Whilst there is a preference for candidates based in Wellington, applications from candidates across New Zealand will be considered.Utu a-tau | SalaryThe midpoint of the salary range is $89,225 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $75,842 - $107,070 per annum.
