Salary: $110,098 - $138,028, plus KiwiSaver and Wellness Benefits. About the Role The building sector is crucial to New Zealand\'s economy. It contributes more than 6 percent to our GDP and employs more than 250,000 people. MBIE is the over-arching regulator of New Zealand\'s building system. MBIE\'s building regulatory system teams provide policy and technical advice on New Zealand\'s building system, rules and standards, and implement building legislation and regulations to meet New Zealand\'s current and future needs. This role is in the Building Resilience and Performance team, working across a range of policy and regulatory matters within the Building and Construction portfolio. This is a fast-paced and dynamic space, which means there will be a variety of opportunities for the successful candidate to be involved with. We are young, flexible and dynamic, with a big work programme, including immediate opportunities to work on: Ensuring the earthquake-prone buildings system is workable and proportionate to the risks posed Supporting high-profile legislative reform across the building system Supporting stakeholders to understand what these legislative changes mean for them, and other pertinent regulatory matters facing the building and construction sector Our people are located across Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch and we operate a ‘matrix management\' model to support the branch\'s work programme. Skills and Experience Required We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor who has skills in regulatory policy and experience in solving complex problems and formulating high-quality policy advice. Ideally you will have: Experience leading complex policy projects within central government Wide ranging knowledge of policy development disciplines and processes The ability to work through ambiguity and deliver results Strong stakeholder relationship building, influencing and engagement skills to gain the cooperation and commitment of others Demonstrated capability in working with Ministers, senior public service officials, internal and external stakeholders Passion for leading and coaching others to develop their policy craft and take their careers to the next level Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and application of these in public policy and in partnership with Māori About MBIE MBIE\'s goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.
