General Manager Delivery
Executive leadership role | Critical infrastructure | Waikato-based
This is an exciting time to join WEL Networks as we transition to a new operating model designed to support our strategic ambitions and the evolving needs of our customers and communities. As part of this next chapter, we're seeking an experienced General Manager Delivery to help lead the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of the work programmes that will support the Waikato's energy future.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the Executive Management Team, this role is central to how WEL translates strategy and investment intent into practical delivery outcomes. You will lead a large delivery ecosystem across internal teams and external partners, ensuring capability, capacity, contracts and ways of working are aligned to deliver for our customers, communities and network.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who can bring strong operational judgement, disciplined execution, demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to lead through complexity, scale and change.
In this role, you will:
Own delivery system performance across capital works, maintenance, first response, customer works, WEL Services, contract performance and programme/project delivery.
Lead and optimise delivery capacity, workflow and productivity across internal teams and delivery partners.
Provide executive oversight of strategic and high-profile delivery commitments, ensuring strong governance, risk management and stakeholder confidence.
Strengthen commercial and partner performance through effective contract negotiation, stewardship and operational controls.
Build leadership capability, accountability and performance culture across the Delivery group.
Drive continuous improvement so delivery planning, scheduling, scoping, project delivery, contract management and field execution become more standardised, scalable and efficient.
About you
You will be an experienced executive leader with a strong background in delivery, operations, programme execution or partner-led service environments. You will bring the credibility to lead through senior managers, influence at executive and Board level, and make sound decisions where priorities, risk and commercial outcomes need to be carefully balanced.
Experience in infrastructure, utilities, engineering, field services, major projects or regulated service environments would be highly valuable, as would strong experience managing contractors, delivery partners or outsourced service models.
Why WEL?
WEL plays a critical role in enabling a reliable, resilient and future-ready electricity network for the Waikato. This role offers the opportunity to shape delivery performance at scale, lead meaningful operational improvement, and contribute directly to the infrastructure that supports our communities and regional growth.
At WEL, we offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing, development and work-life balance. You'll be joining a values-driven organisation where your contribution is recognised and where you can make a meaningful impact for our people, customers and communities.
