Job Description
We are looking for an experienced HVAC Technician to be part of our dedicated team that is passionate in consistently delivering exceptional service to our valued clients in Gisborne. This is a permanent full-time role with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week and up to 60 hours per week, with weekend work required. Competitive rate from $40 to $45 depends on skills and experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform maintenance and servicing on refrigerated trailer units, primarily Carrier and Schmitz Cargobull systems, in line with company and manufacturer standards. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and OEM diagnostic interfaces. Carry out timely repairs to minimise downtime and ensure trailers remain operational, safe, and compliant with cold‑chain requirements. Respond to urgent callouts and troubleshoot issues on‑site or in the workshop with a high degree of independence. Make safe, informed repair decisions that balance operational efficiency, cost, and reliability. Ensure compliance with refrigerant handling regulations, electrical safety standards, and all internal health and safety procedures. Document all work completed , including service notes, parts used, fault findings, and repair outcomes, ensuring accurate maintenance records. Identify emerging issues early and communicate risks or required repairs to the Fleet Manager or relevant stakeholders. Maintain tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices to a high standard and report any faults or calibration needs. Collaborate effectively with drivers, workshop staff, and management to support smooth operations and prioritise workload. Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process, safety, or efficiency enhancements based on hands‑on experience. Uphold company standards and support consistent fleet performance across all refrigerated units. Suitable Candidates Must Have: At least 3 years of relevant experience A clear driver licence or international equivalent Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting Experience with diagnostic software and tools for heavy vehicles Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics A strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace Desired to have Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 Desired to hold NZ qualifications in electrical and refrigeration Strong problem-solving and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team A standard of fitness to enable you to carry out all of your duties Requires heavy lifting, using power tools, and standing for extended periods You must have right to work in NZ! #J-18808-Ljbffr
