Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

We play a major role in the MBChB programme teaching into years 3, 5, and 6 and offer postgraduate qualifications in women’s health including a Certificate of Pregnancy and Medical Gynaecology, a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and research degrees including BMedSc, Masters and PhD. The role | Te mahi This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australasia’s leading medical schools as a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate’s academic achievements, experience, and expertise. In this role, you will contribute to high-quality, research-informed teaching across the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will develop and deliver teaching and assessment activities, contribute to curriculum development, convene papers, and provide supervision and mentorship to research students. You will work collaboratively with the University of Otago’s Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Christchurch and Wellington. You will also establish or further develop an active research programme, producing high-quality publications, securing external research funding, and building national and international research collaborations. Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako The successful applicant will hold a professional health practitioner qualification and preferably a higher research degree (PhD or equivalent). You will be a registered health professional and demonstrate: An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to the University’s Māori Strategic Framework. A collegial and collaborative approach to teaching, research, and service. Experience teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. The ability to provide specialist teaching in pregnancy, gynaecology, and women’s health. Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and postgraduate supervision, or the potential to develop these areas. A track record of, or strong potential for, internationally peer‑reviewed research. Success in, or the potential to obtain, competitive research funding and develop collaborative research programmes.
