Export Operations Specialist

Join DHL Global Forwarding as Export Operations Specialist (AFR) Location: Christchurch, New Zealand Reporting Lines: Directly report: Export Manager Dotted line report: Christchurch Branch Manager Job Purpose: The Export Operations Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing all export operational processes end‑to‑end. This includes booking cargo, managing documentation, liaising with customers and carriers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and proactively supporting the seamless movement of international export shipments. Key Tasks: Coordinate and ensure timely bookings with airlines on behalf of customers Manage all export file activities including opening, updating, invoicing, and closing job files according to DHL Global Forwarding procedures Execute transactional export activities in adherence to internal procedures, customs regulations, and destination requirements Prepare, control, and distribute all required export documentation such as Air Waybills, Certificates of Origin, cargo manifests, security declarations, and regulatory forms Build strong, long-term relationships with assigned customers through proactive, open, and honest communication Complete security‑related processes such as Known Shipper checks and Regulated Agent certificates Meet all KPI’s assigned Qualifications and skills required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding; export experience is highly desirable Proficiency with CargoWise Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships High attention to detail and a proactive work ethic Ability to work independently, under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
