Job Description

Court Registry Officer – Christchurch High Court (Permanent, Fulltime) As a Court Registry Officer, you will work with a team responsible for the successful operation of the Court. You will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including defendants, witnesses, family members, Oranga Tamariki, lawyers, and police officers, and communicate confidently with judges within the courtroom and their chambers. Responsibilities Court Taking – Facilitate smooth operation of the Court, introduce judges (in English and Te Reo Māori), collaborate in courtroom and chambers, manage jurors, and handle general administration. Customer Service – Provide onsite customer service to court‑related queries via face‑to‑face, phone, or email. Case Management – Ensure files are accurate, maintain data entry, and support case handling processes. Qualifications Strong customer service skills and quality decision‑making. Solution‑focused and resilient in a dynamic work environment. Detail‑oriented and observant; accurate case information. Collaborative and a reliable team player within the registry. Self‑aware, confident working both individually and with diverse participants. Ability to multi‑task, manage conflicting priorities, and transition between tasks quickly. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing legislation and court processes. Resilience to handle sensitive cases and high volumes.
