About this role This is a Permanent Full-Time role. The Curriculum Advisor will be based in the region and is responsible for supporting schools to develop high-quality teaching and learning programmes with a specific focus on Secondary Education. In this role you will support teaching professionals to understand the new curriculum and NCEA design and implement them into specific teaching contexts, helping learners develop the competencies they need for study, work, and life‑long learning. The work is grounded in an understanding of the Science of Learning, evidence‑based practice, and principles of inclusive and accessible learning design that embraces and reflects diverse languages, culture and identity of all learners. You will be part of a regional team working closely with schools, kura and early learning services to: Provide support on the development of teaching and learning programmes, including assessment practices, to support the implementation of government curriculum priorities to improve learning outcomes for all students. Identify and deliver high-quality curriculum to meet the diverse educational needs of all students, with a specific focus on equitable achievement of student learning outcomes. Support early learning services, kura and schools to work alongside whānau, hapū and iwi to reflect the aspirations of tamariki in teaching and learning programmes. Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share good practices. Salary range: $100,296 - $121,490 per annum + KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. About you To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following capabilities and competencies: Strong, proven curriculum design expertise and a deep working knowledge and recent practical experience in schools is essential. Secondary knowledge and experience would be an added advantage. Please state your area of expertise in your application. Extensive knowledge and recent experience in teaching and learning, leadership, and curriculum and assessment theory and practice, with an ability to support professional change in education settings. Experience with te ao Māori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori. An understanding of design thinking as it relates to designing inclusive and accessible learning. A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system‑level decision making. Strong knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level. Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts. A full current driver’s licence, as travel will be required. About our group and team The Education Services Group provides well‑designed, integrated education services that support the impactful and effective operation of education settings to support student achievement and participation. The services help remove barriers to participation and learning and provide regulatory advice, support and oversight to early learning providers, schools and kura. The Group has three key priorities for Education Services: Practice & Guidance: Managing practice and guidance to improve national coordination and consistency, whilst enabling regional autonomy for education service delivery. Integration & Delivery: Providing education support directly to education settings via integrated regional and national services. Monitoring & Improvement: Monitoring and advising on improvements to the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of services for achievement and progression, attendance and participation.
