About this role This is a Permanent Full-Time role. The Curriculum Advisor will be based in the region and is responsible for supporting schools to develop high‑quality teaching and learning programmes with a specific focus on Secondary Education. As a Curriculum Advisor, you will support teaching professionals to understand the new curriculum and NCEA design and support materials and how they are best implemented into specific teaching and learning contexts, thereby helping their learner develop the competencies they need for study, work, and life‑long learning. The work is grounded in an understanding of the Science of Learning and evidence‑based practice, as well as principles of inclusive and accessible learning design that embraces and reflects diverse languages, culture and identity of all learners. Responsibilities Provide support on the development of teaching and learning programs, including assessment practices, to support the implementation of government curriculum priorities to improve learning outcomes for all students. Identify and deliver high‑quality curriculum to meet the diverse educational needs of all students, with a specific focus on equitable achievement of student learning outcomes. Support early learning services, kura and schools to work alongside whanau, hapu and iwi to reflect the aspirations of their tamariki in teaching and learning programmes. Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share good practices. Qualifications & Competencies Strong, proven curriculum design expertise and a deep working knowledge and recent practical experience in schools is essential. Secondary knowledge and experience would be an added advantage. Please state your area of expertise in your application. Extensive knowledge and recent experience in teaching and learning, leadership, and curriculum and assessment theory and practice, with an ability to support professional change in education settings. Experience with te ao Māori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori. An understanding of design thinking as it relates to designing inclusive and accessible learning. A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system‑level decision making. Strong knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level. Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and facilitation skills, with an ability to adapt to different interaction styles and contexts. A full current driver’s licence as travel will be required. The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $100,296 – $121,490 per annum + KiwiSaver.
