Job Description
Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Guidance counsellor English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts Kapiti College seeks a dedicated and compassionate counsellor to join our strong and caring counselling team on a part-time (0.5) basis. In this role, you will provide professional one-to-one counselling and support to students in Years 9-13, helping them navigate personal, emotional, social and academic challenges. You will contribute primarily to our annual plan, which has four Pou. Especially Pou 2: Wellbeing and Belonging—creating a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels pride, connection, mana and the ability to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. You will work collaboratively with staff, whānau, and external agencies to promote resilience, mental health awareness, and positive relationships. Key Requirements and Qualifications Registered (or eligible) member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). Experience working with adolescents. Cultural responsiveness and a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Alignment with our Parihaka Mai Ai values.
