2026/2027 Intern - Controls Assurance - Auckland

About this role This unique internship gives you the opportunity to experience two exciting career paths in one programme. You'll spend half of your internship in our Digital Assurance team and half in our Audit team, gaining hands‑on experience across both areas. By the end of the internship you'll have a strong understanding of each team and will have had the opportunity to work across a diverse group of people within the business. Digital Assurance Our Digital Assurance practice works closely with the financial auditors to understand clients' businesses, strategies and processes, IT architecture and risks. Our team keeps abreast of emerging technologies within the IT environment and helps develop audit plans to counter financial risks that might be associated with the application of such technologies. We support clients in enhancing their IT control governance maturity, working across a range of industries and clients. Audit Our Audit practice provides stakeholders with confidence and trust in their financial statements—proving they are accurate and free from misinformation. The team works in different sized project groups depending on the client size. These change throughout the year, so you get to work with a range of likeminded people and learn from others. Typical Day Working alongside your project team, internal subject matter experts, clients and different leaders. Getting into the details of a business and their functions—understanding how they operate and what their priorities are. Considering risks in relation to fraud and IT. Reviewing client controls and processes around financial information and information systems. Helping develop solutions on how to improve processes. Supporting clients facing challenges from corporate governance, risk management and sustainability. Candidate Profile No previous experience is required. Part‑time positions or internships in accounting/finance, IT, business analytics, law, customer service, retail and hospitality are beneficial. Currently completing either a bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting or Finance, or a bachelor's degree in fields including, but not limited to IT, Data Science, Commerce/Business, Science, Economics, Finance or Statistics. An analytical, detail‑orientated and open mind, with a natural curiosity to get involved with and explore new and upcoming technologies. An adaptable and resilient attitude—understanding what it's like to overcome obstacles through tenacity and hard work. Ability to work as a member of a team and communicate findings with stakeholders. Requirements An up‑to‑date CV.
