Part Time Retail Security Guard (Weekends) - Christchurch

Join Red Badge Group as a Part Time Weekend Retail Security Guard in Christchurch — helping keep customers, staff and retail spaces safe, welcoming and running smoothly across weekend trading hours. We are looking for staff to work on a Part Time basis - on at least 1 weekend day, at two of our retail sites in Central Christchurch - this could be either Saturday or Sunday each week. There will be opportunities to pick up additional shifts during the week as well. Shift times vary between 0700-1900 and 1530-0030. The role As a Weekend Retail Security Guard based in Christchurch you will provide a visible, professional presence during busy weekend trading periods. You’ll deter loss and anti‑social behaviour, respond to incidents, support crowd and access management, and deliver excellent customer service to visitors and tenants. This role requires good judgement, clear communication and the ability to stay calm under pressure. What you’ll be doing Patrol the shopping centre and store areas, to deter theft and anti‑social behaviour. Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, alarms and customer concerns, escalating to mall management or emergency services as required. Provide friendly, customer‑focused assistance and directions to shoppers, balancing security duties with excellent customer service. Assist with safe access for deliveries and contractors where needed. Prepare accurate incident, shift and handover reports to ensure continuity between shifts. Work closely with mall management, retailers and the wider Red Badge team to maintain a safe and welcoming weekend environment. What you’ll bring A current and valid New Zealand Certificate of Approval (COA) security licence, or eligibility to obtain one (we can assist with the process). A clean criminal record and the ability to pass employment screening checks. A Clean Full New Zealand Drivers License Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, crowd management, hospitality or similar customer service is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, a professional appearance and a customer‑focused approach. Ability to remain calm under pressure and to de‑escalate difficult situations safely and respectfully. Availability to work weekend shifts, including Saturdays and/or Sundays consistently each week. Eligibility to work in New Zealand and be 18 years or older.
