About the role Are you an experienced payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and delivering great service? We're looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our People & Capability team and play a key role in ensuring our Support Centre payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with best practice. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, future‑focused environment where your expertise will make a real difference to our people every pay cycle. Key Responsibilities Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing and employee lifecycle changes Process new starters, transfers, terminations, and organisational restructures Validate employment and policy changes for payroll compliance Manage manual and special payments as required Prepare payroll reporting, reconciliations, and General Ledger journals Complete IRD payday filing and statutory compliance activities Support superannuation, ACC, and related payroll obligations Manage payroll queries through ServiceNow Contribute to payroll projects, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives Support annual remuneration processes and pay reviews About you To be successful in this role, you'll bring: Proven payroll experience within a medium to large organisation Experience working with PayGlobal (bonus) Strong knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act, PAYE, ACC, and parental leave requirements Experience interpreting employment agreements and applying payroll policies accurately Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills The ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearly and confidently Strong planning, problem‑solving, and communication skills A continuous improvement mindset and curiosity to identify better ways of working A collaborative approach, while also being comfortable working independently and remotely when required Benefits We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits: Free car parking – over 1,000 carparks including 36 free EV plugs Southern Cross health insurance Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini‑mart, 5% discount at our retail stores Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday, long‑service leave In‑house learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccination, and social network groups (Tribes) Experience awesome.
