About the Role Enphase is seeking Embedded Software Engineers to join our engineering and technology teams. These engineers will be responsible for embedded software development for Enphase’s microgrid products, including inverters and gateway products. This engineer will transition work from conception, through engineering, to production, while collaborating with teams in California, Texas, India, and New Zealand. This position is within our Software Engineering group, where you will work with a small team to develop control for autonomous grid connection, management, and regulation. You will be working in a multi-site team and expect to interface across multiple functions. What you will do Leverage AI and agentic coding tools to accelerate software development while applying hands‑on skills and sound engineering judgement to design, implement, verify, and maintain embedded software: Design and implement software to run under embedded Linux on resource constrained microprocessor based systems. Carry design tasks from concept to implementation. Document engineering requirements and solutions. Test new firmware and debug and troubleshoot issues in complex systems. Work with cross functional teams to test and troubleshoot issues. Who you are and what you bring BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering + minimum of 2 years relevant experience Self‑motivated individual with the ability to work under minimal supervision Experience in and a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle; hands‑on design, development and debugging and use of tools like version control, bug tracking, etc Experience in various levels of testing: unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing Software development for embedded Linux systems. Strong understanding of C/C++ programming concepts, and operating systems concepts. Strong understanding of real time control, multi‑threading and inter‑process communications. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms. Experience in scripting languages like Ruby, Lua, Python, etc. Familiarity with development tools such as GCC, GDB, GNU Make, cross compilation, etc. Good written and verbal communication skills. Bonus Skills/Experience Experience using AI and agentic coding tools Exposure to ARM based micro‑controller systems. Experience using Git, Jira and Confluence designed. Integration of communication protocols, such as Zigbee, Bluetooth, BLE, WiFi, and power line carrier. Experience with solar, energy storage, and microgrid products. These Research and Development Centres focus on the design and testing of our cornerstone product, the Microinverter. Enphase New Zealand has a team of around 120+ engineers and support staff.
