Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has a proud history in early childhood education in Aotearoa New Zealand. Today, our organisation includes 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres across Tāmaki Makaurau. Te Whāriki underpins our practice, with tamariki, parents and whānau at the heart of everything we do. Howick Kindergarten has a dedicated team of qualified and registered kaiako who are passionate about delivering a high‑quality, play‑based curriculum. Its inclusive, well‑resourced environment supports tamariki to explore, contribute ideas, develop independence and take an active role in shaping their learning. We are seeking an experienced head kaiako to provide strong pedagogical, professional and operational leadership. You will lead by example, build trusted relationships and create an environment where kaiako feel supported, valued and encouraged to grow. Working collaboratively with the teaching team, whānau and community, you will help develop and bring to life a shared vision for the kindergarten. You will lead teaching and learning, support internal evaluation and continuous improvement, manage compliance and day‑to‑day operations, and ensure tamariki continue to experience equitable learning opportunities. You will bring: Full ECE registration and a current practising certificate At least five years’ ECE experience Proven pedagogical and professional leadership capability Experience coaching and developing collaborative teams Confidence managing ECE operations and compliance Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, bicultural and inclusive practice Strong relationship‑building and communication skills We encourage prospective applicants to visit Howick Kindergarten before applying.
