Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor - Injury Managment

Permanent full‑time opportunity within Health, Safety and Wellbeing for Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Council). Hybrid role based in Auckland CBD with travel throughout the region. • Empower internal staff on their injury management journey • 3 days onsite each week • Flexible, high‑trust environment supporting flexibility, autonomy, and accountability Auckland Council’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team invites you to join as an Advisor – Injury Management. You will support staff to recover from both work‑related and non‑work‑related injuries, coordinate rehabilitation programmes, and facilitate safe, timely, and sustainable return‑to‑work outcomes. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of injury and illness rehabilitation cases, supporting staff to achieve safe, sustainable return‑to‑work outcomes. Coordinate and monitor rehabilitation and return‑to‑work plans in partnership with staff, people leaders, treatment providers, and Auckland Council's Third Party Administrator (TPA). Review and interpret medical information, treatment recommendations, and work capacity assessments to inform rehabilitation planning. Identify and manage complex cases, escalating matters to the Senior Injury Management Advisor and seeking guidance when required. Apply working knowledge of the Injury Accident Compensation Act 2001 for cover and entitlement decisions. Deliver education and training to leaders and stakeholders to build capability and understanding of injury management and return‑to‑work practices. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in an injury case management environment (ACC or TPA). Minimum 2 years of demonstrable experience in a similar role. Sound understanding of Te Ao Māori with the ability to apply te reo Māori and tikanga. Previous experience cultivating and maintaining strong relationships across diverse stakeholders.
