Senior Advisor | Performance Insights and Evaluation Date: 19 Jul 2026 Location: Wellington, NZ, 6011 Identify opportunities to improve system performance and strengthen regulatory stewardship. Shape evidence-based advice that supports better system outcomes for New Zealand's building regulatory system. Permanent or 12‑month secondment opportunity, Wellington or Christchurch based location. Salary $111,098 - $138,028 plus KiwiSaver and wellbeing allowance. We are looking for a Senior Advisor who can: Use evidence and analysis to identify opportunities to improve system performance and support evidence‑based decision‑making. Identify opportunities to strengthen regulatory stewardship and improve system‑level outcomes. Lead and coordinate evaluation activities, including managing relationships and contracts with external evaluation providers. Build strong relationships across MBIE, government and the wider building sector to support reporting, monitoring and evaluation activity. Communicate with confidence, using excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence decisions and convey complex ideas clearly to project teams, governance groups, Ministers and stakeholders. Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana: We are looking for someone who has: Strong experience with procurement and contract management of outsourced service provision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences, including Ministers. Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Ability to combine storytelling with qualitative and quantitative insights. Experience with, or ability to learn, reporting tools such as Power BI. Good understanding of the public sector, including the Ministry’s role and government processes. Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to satisfy the Ministry’s security clearance requirements.
