Overview Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora – Canterbury Hospital Dental Service & Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is inviting applications for Dental House Officers (first or second year) commencing January2027 at Christchurch Hospital. Responsibilities Dental House Officers will: Plan and deliver a range of dental treatments, including treatment planning, exodontia, paediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral medicine, and special needs dentistry. Participate in an on‑call roster. Work closely with Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons on minor oral surgery, trauma, infection management and procedures under general anaesthesia. Treat medically compromised patients. Receive close clinical supervision and training from experienced staff. About the Team Healthcare services are delivered to about 600000 people across Canterbury region, with facilities such as Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch Women’s Hospital, Hillmorton Hospital, Princes Margaret Hospital – Mental Health Services, Burwood Hospital – Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation Services, and Ashburton Hospital. The team values TeTiriti oWaitangi and Māori partnership. Qualifications Successful completion of a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Knowledge and commitment to TeTiriti oWaitangi and its application in health. Willingness to develop equity skills to support Māori and minority groups. Eligibility for general registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand.
