Recovery Partner Mental Injury - Wellington Job Description Work with clients experiencing trauma, sensitive claims, and complex recovery journeys Make a genuine impact in a role that is both emotionally challenging and rewarding Join a supportive team where resilience and wellbeing matter Start Date: Monday 12 October 2026 About the role As a Recovery Partner – Mental Injury (Level 1), you will work directly with clients who require intensive support following complex mental injuries, including those arising from sexual harm and other highly sensitive trauma. You will coordinate recovery support across whānau, providers and agencies to help clients move forward. This role comes with both challenge and purpose. You will be exposed to distressing situations, difficult stories, and complex client needs. You’ll need to stay grounded, manage emotional pressure, and make sound decisions in situations that don’t always have easy answers. You’ll be working in a fast‑paced environment where there is always someone who needs your support. It’s not for everyone. But for the right person, it’s incredibly meaningful work — helping people through some of the hardest moments in their lives and contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between. The indicative starting salary for this role is $77,502 – $86,113, depending on experience. You will bring: Experience in mental health, disability, rehabilitation or social services working with complex needs High levels of resilience — you can manage emotionally demanding work without losing effectiveness The ability to build trust with clients in vulnerable, distressed or challenging situations Strong decision‑making skills in complex and high‑pressure environments Excellent communication skills, including the ability to have difficult conversations A practical, solutions‑focused approach to recovery and rehabilitation Ability to work collaboratively across services, providers and agencies Cultural awareness and respect for diverse experiences and backgrounds Confidence working with systems and managing sensitive client information You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application Self‑screening check: Please consider this role carefully.
