Description Hydraulic Modeller (260000H8) – Salary $75‑80k. Full time , 40 hours per week. Based in Wellington . About the role Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand has an impressive portfolio of projects that benefit communities nationwide and internationally. The team focuses on drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater management, with a key emphasis on dams and hydropower to drive resilience and renewable energy solutions. Key responsibilities Technical oversight of modelling projects delivered nationally and globally. Rapid flood hazard assessments. Model build, validation, and calibration of networks. Flood hazard mapping and system performance assessments. Growth assessments, master plans, and strategic studies. Options analysis and development of solutions. Flood risk and mitigation assessments. Wastewater overflow and water quality assessments. Mentorship and training of junior modelling staff. Review and QA/QC of modelling projects for clients. Regular liaison with Stantec staff in other offices to share knowledge and best practice. Qualifications Relevant Bachelor’s degree. 3‑5 years of experience in hydraulic modelling, preferably with exposure to UK water projects. Proficient with InfoWorks ICM and GIS packages such as ArcGIS. Experience in wastewater essential; experience in stormwater desirable. Familiarity with data analytics, coding, and data visualisation is desirable. Enthusiasm for innovative thinking and active involvement in the Asia Pacific Stantec network planning community.
