Use your scientific knowledge in a customer-focused role and grow your commercial career. 20th July, 2026 Our client is a growing business in the hazardous waste management industry , and they are looking for a Customer Support Chemist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys problem‑solving, customer interaction, and working across both office and operational environments. This position is based in East Auckland , working Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm , with the opportunity to transition from temporary to permanent for the right person. About the Role As the Customer Support Chemist, you will act as an important link between customers and the operations team, using your chemical knowledge to provide technical advice while supporting sales, administration, logistics, and day‑to‑day operations. Key Responsibilities Provide technical customer support and act as a liaison between customers and the operations team. Respond to customer enquiries and provide professional, timely service. Prepare accurate quotations based on customer requirements and disposal costs. Provide guidance to customers regarding the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Enter and maintain accurate customer and order information within internal sales and administration systems. Assist with coordinating and scheduling hazardous waste collection and disposal services. Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients across the North Island. Support the Operations Manager with day‑to‑day operational activities. Undertake general site duties and hands‑on operational tasks as required. Assist with occasional logistical and driving duties where appropriately licensed. Complete physical manual handling tasks, including moving 20L jerry cans, 200L drums, and 1000L IBC containers. Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and requirements. About You We are looking for someone who has: A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field . Strong communication and customer service skills. The ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with CRM or sales systems is advantageous. Excellent organization and time‑management skills. A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to work across both office and operational environments. The physical capability to undertake manual handling tasks. A valid Class 1 driver's licence and confidence driving a manual vehicle. A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance. What's on Offer?
