About the role Our Specialist Mental Health Services (SMHS) are at the leading edge of mental health service delivery. We provide a range of inpatient and community services to tangata whaiora in the Waitaha Rohe (Canterbury district). The Canterbury Regional Forensic Psychiatric Service is dedicated to assessing and treating people that have acted violently in the context of a mental disorder, or may be at risk of doing so. It also caters for prisoners that require inpatient treatment. There are a number of units and teams which includes medium secure units, an open unit and a community team that assess and treat people with mental illness that are known to the Justice System. 40 hour per week (1.0 FTE) permanent full time position. Will have an on‑call component as part of the role. Connect and engage with tangata whaiora to understand their cultural requirements through assessments (Te Arotakenga – cultural assessments). Work alongside and guide our qualified professionals to be culturally responsive. About You To be successful as a Pukenga Atawhai, your core strengths will include: A strong knowledge of Te Ao Māori (Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga Māori) and ability to apply these values when connecting with others. A natural ability to build and nurture relationships. Reflective communication practices and a holistic view when caring for others.
