This is an exciting opportunity to develop your policy, project management and governance experience while making a tangible impact on how waste is managed across the Wellington region. Working closely with officers from across the region, you\'ll be the central point of coordination for a range of regional initiatives. Your work will include: Coordinating the implementation of the Wellington Region Waste Management and Minimisation Plan. Building strong working relationships across the region\'s eight councils and with key external stakeholders. Preparing reports and papers for regional steering groups and Joint Committee meetings. Coordinating meetings, consultations and regional projects from planning through to delivery. Assisting with regional funding and supporting financial reporting. Gathering and analysing data to inform decision making and regional reporting. Supporting the review of the current WMMP, Waste Assessment and future regional waste strategies. Helping improve regional systems, processes and collaboration to deliver better outcomes. Ko wai koe | About you Success in this role is less about knowing everything about waste management and more about your ability to work collaboratively, stay organised and keep multiple pieces moving. You'll bring: Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and competing priorities. Initiative, sound judgement and the confidence to work independently. Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing reports, committee papers or briefings. A diplomatic and professional approach, with the ability to influence and work across diverse organisations. Experience working in local government, policy, or another political or public sector environment will be highly regarded. An understanding of project coordination, policy development or governance processes is advantageous. A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience. A full Class 1 driver\'s licence is essential, as regular travel throughout the Wellington region is required.
