Job Description

Administration Assistant – Patient Service Centre, North Shore Hospital Overview This is a full‑time, permanent role with the Elective Planned Care Team at Health NewZealand. The position works Monday to Friday and requires a motivated, entry‑level administrator to support patient service activities. Key Responsibilities Manage telephone enquiries from patients via the Patient Service Line and direct them to the appropriate specialty. Support the loading and processing of referrals. Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to clinical and non‑clinical staff. Assist with the smooth operation of the Patient Service Centre, including monitoring and ordering supplies and maintaining staff kitchen consumables. About You You will be the first point of contact for patients, creating a positive experience through excellent service and communication. You will bring a proactive, team‑player approach to a busy healthcare environment. Qualifications and Competencies Excellent administration and telephone communication skills. Accurate computer and data entry skills. Strong customer‑service focus and interpersonal communication abilities. Organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Positive, collaborative approach and effective teamwork. High motivation and initiative. Process‑ and procedure‑focused mindset. Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment. Knowledge of hospital information systems is an advantage; full training will be provided. Employment Details Role is covered by the PSA National Health Administration Workers collective agreement and is mapped to band3.
