Mechanical Trade Assistant

Are you a mechanically minded professional ready to hit the ground running? We have an immediate requirement for two candidates to join the facility maintenance team supporting Wellington/Wider Wellington Hospitals for a 3-month contract. You’ll be stepping in to assist the existing fitting team with crucial mechanical maintenance, keeping vital healthcare infrastructure running smoothly. What We’re Looking For Experience: Qualified Mechanical Fitter OR a Trade Assistant with a proven, strong mechanical aptitude. Reliability: High level of punctuality and a solid work ethic. Hospital Compliance: Hospital sites require high safety, security, and hygiene standards. You must be clear-headed, safety-conscious, and willing to adhere strictly to health and safety protocols. Availability: Ready to start ASAP and commit to a 3-month assignment. Key Responsibilities Performing mechanical maintenance on HVAC systems, hot water pumps, and units. Providing general trade assistance (tool carrying, ladder support, site prep, and safety monitoring). Tackling basic independent mechanical servicing (commensurate with experience/competency). Supporting the team to bridge short-term staffing coverage.
