About the role: Stantec’s Water team in New Zealand has an impressive portfolio of successful projects that benefit communities nationwide. Our water focus covers the management of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater as a collective resource. Finding solutions to our water challenges is crucial, and our diverse local network of over 360 water specialists collaborates and innovates to ensure the best outcomes are achieved. We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Hydraulic Modeller with a specialisation in Stormwater, Wastewater. As a senior member of our hydraulic modelling team, you’ll provide technical leadership across a range of complex water projects. You’ll lead modelling activities, support project delivery, mentor others, and work closely with clients to develop practical, innovative solutions that deliver lasting value. Key aspects of the role will include: Provide technical oversight of hydraulic modelling projects, including model build, calibration, system performance, options analysis, and QA/QC. Deliver high‑quality technical solutions by understanding client requirements, undertaking investigations, and preparing calculations, specifications, and designs. Manage allocated projects and coordinate project activities to deliver quality outcomes on time, within budget, and to client expectations. Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying and supporting new business opportunities through proposals and expressions of interest. Provide specialist engineering expertise to support project delivery and solve complex technical challenges. Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their technical and professional development. What you’ll bring: Ownership of projects, technical quality, seeking opportunities, and client relationships Proactively connects with others within the network planning practice, both nationally and globally Reputation, technically excellent and respected in the industry Enthusiasm about the practice area of hydraulic modelling, wastewater networks and environmental outcomes Expertise in InfoWorks ICM and GIS packages, wastewater networks.
